Snoopy is Alive and Living in Houston

René Carrasco has been a white cane user for five years. But with his active lifestyle, large family, and classes on a busy college campus, he wanted a guide dog for enhanced mobility and safety. Enter Snoopy, a yellow Lab who René immediately fell in love with. Now Snoopy not only leads René across a crowded Houston campus, he’s also become his children’s new best friend.

GDB President and CEO Christine Benninger discusses the training behind these life-changing partnerships on the Shaping Opinion podcast.

Guiding the Way: Teen’s Guide Dog Helps Her Navigate High School

15-year-old Alaina Gott walks the halls of her high school with confidence and ease. That’s because her guide dog Sable provides her with a faster and safer way to navigate busy hallways than when she used a white cane. Alaina says she couldn’t imagine high school without Sable, noting that she turned to GDB for a dog that would fit her busy lifestyle but also be calm enough to hang out when she’s busy competing in after‑school sports.

Holiday Luncheons Lead to Legacy Gifts

Ronnie Bayduza and Greg Losito have been avid supporters of Guide Dogs for the Blind for more than a decade. Recently, they were motivated to create a legacy gift that would continue to benefit GDB’s programs long after they are gone. The two set up Charitable Remainder Trusts (CRTs) that Greg says are a “win-win” for GDB and for them.
