The ad is airing in 80 airports across the US and is slated to garner 35 million plus impressions during its month-long run. The ad features footage and photos of GDB guide dog teams moving through the world confidently and safely on city streets, college campuses, and in suburban neighborhoods.

GDB Advocacy Efforts Result in New California Law

Guide Dogs for the Blind is proud to have co-sponsored legislation that cracks down on fraudulent service animals while protecting public access rights for people with legitimate service dogs like guide dogs. The bill, recently signed into law by California Governor Gavin Newson, could have far-reaching implications for the service dog industry in the U.S.

Ophthalmology Students Gain Insight into GDB Programs

GDB recently hosted a group of ophthalmology residents from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) on our California campus as part of ongoing partnerships with a number of ophthalmology schools. Our hope is to provide the doctors with a better understanding of both the guide dog lifestyle and the range of rehabilitation opportunities available to patients beyond the diagnosis of blindness.

Guide Dog Leads to Friendship

For Marsha Bukala, a guide dog was the difference between isolation and independence. “Jewel is this gift, the most incredible gift I’ve ever gotten,” she says. But that’s not all she gained from her relationship with GDB – Marsha gained a dear friend as well when she met Jewel’s volunteer puppy sitter, Kathy Wentworth, who also supports GDB through her donor advised fund. The two women quickly became fast friends.
